Lauren Perry recently accepted a position at Satsuma City School System as their Special Services Director where she coordinates and oversees the Special Education, Gifted, English Language Learners, and 504 programs. She previously worked with the University of South Alabama’s PASSAGE USA program as the Employment Coordinator. PASSAGE USA integrates the model of career exploration, on/off-the-job training, and internship experiences to help students explore their interests, skill sets, and passions. There is heavy concentration on evidence-based practices and data-driven results to ensure student success. She has former experience as a high school self-contained and inclusion special education teacher. During her career as a special educator, she focused heavily on transition skills and community-based work instruction.
Lauren’s interests are heavily focused on assisting young adults with intellectual disabilities transition from secondary to postsecondary settings. She specifically focuses on community employment, business/community relationships, transition-related curriculum design, and the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies.
