Megan Smith, MAT, is a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Northern Virginia and currently pursuing her doctoral degree at George Mason University with a specialization in Special Education and Educational Leadership. Ms. Smith’s research focus is on improving transition outcomes for students who are blind or visually impaired. Ms. Smith plans to engage in intervention research focused on improving self-determined behaviors in students who are visually impaired through a peer mentorship based intervention. Ms. Smith is passionate about educating families, community members, and other educators about inclusive instructional practices for students with low vision and blindness.
